SOUL FIRST. BODY SECOND.

I live in a place that prides itself on achieving the “perfect” body.   Stepford Wives abound and the Hollywood life is right next door.

It’s so easy to become enmeshed in the quest for physical perfection and body worship to find some – any – meaning in a life lost.

Take proper care of your body, yes. For we have but one in this life.

But what’s more important is proper care of your heart. When your heart is at peace, the body will follow. When you find those quiet moments of solitude, whether sitting in traffic or sitting on a porch on an acre of land, notice your delicate breath, the rise and fall of your chest. Close your eyes and taste the scent of perfect peace.

It’s easy to become preoccupied with our physical bodies having witnessed the death of another’s. But what truly matters is not what will age, change with time, and ultimately pass away, but the condition of one’s heart and the state of one’s soul.

When your heart is at peace, picking up an apple is easier than picking up a sweet treat to feel that fleeting feeling of energetic happiness. When your soul is filled, choosing to soak up the sun is easier than staying in bed, huddled under the covers.

What shines so brightly outside is a direct reflection of a healthy inside.

Care for your heart. Heal your soul.

And your body will follow. 💙

Welcome to the web’s millionth blog. I’m the world’s okay-est mom, I hate coffee, and I have a ton of kids that are kind of cute. Oh, I have no husband since he decided to permanently move upstairs. So that makes me a widow, too. Grab a glass of wine, and join me while we travel this most interesting life.
