PLAY IT BIG

Sometimes you just have to shake your head, look to the floor, and start laughing.

It’s a funny thing, this life. One minute we’re eating dinner as a family, the next we’re trudging our way through chemotherapy infusions and scan results.

Just when we thought we’d figured it out, we caught a curveball that hit right between our family’s eyes.

It hurt. We wept, we raged, we rested, and then we laughed. Because at the end of the day, that’s all that was left to do.

Cancer hit us, but we hit back.  Not all the time, but over the 5 years he was fighting, I vividly remember the times he sent me goofy messages, telling me to bury him near our family home but make sure he was dead first, me teasing him about faking this whole cancer thing just to get attention, and he always trying to get me to say off-the-wall things so he could get one more smile that day.

Through the dark days of cancer, little bits of sunshine poked through, and it came in the form of laughter. We took the cancer and played it big until we could play it no more.

So whatever you’ve been handed today, play it. And play it big. đź’™

Welcome to the web’s millionth blog. I’m the world’s okay-est mom, I hate coffee, and I have a ton of kids that are kind of cute. Oh, I have no husband since he decided to permanently move upstairs. So that makes me a widow, too. Grab a glass of wine, and join me while we travel this most interesting life.
